South Vazhakulam is a town in Aluva-Munnar State Highway, in between Aluva and Perumbavoor. It represents Vazhakulam Block and Vazhakulam Grama Panchayat in Ernakulam district, Kerala, India. The town is located on the banks of river Periyar and is called the queen of periyar.

South Vazhakulam is famous for its religious harmony. Hindus, Muslims and Christians are having almost equal strength and live in unity.

Unlike other places in this panchayat, unemployment is not an issue at all. It provides employment to people from across the country.

Vazhakulam is famous for rubber, timber and plywood industries. There are many rubber dealers and crumb rubber manufacturers and polymer companies located over there.
